Reidsville Middle School supports students in becoming well-rounded, responsible, and contributing citizens in a diverse society. The school follows the Common Core State Standards and NC Essential Standards and strives to provide an engaging 21st century learning environment for all students to become college and career ready. Language arts, math, science, and social studies are the core classes that are emphasized. Students have the opportunity to select from a number of electives that include:

Business Computer Technology
Library/Student Media Assistant
All students participate in a 30 minute enrichment period designed to improve student understanding and student achievement.
Teachers employ research based teaching strategies in the classrooms that are driven from data derived from assessments. The pacing guides to the left can be accessed by teachers with their login credentials.
The curriculum followed is determined by the State of North Carolina - NC Department of Public Instruction.

Language Arts Links
This web site takes users through the actual steps of writing a basic essay. Users develop an idea and write their own short essay, consisting of an introduction, a two- to three-paragraph body, and a conclusion. The web site provides questions that help to guide users step by step through pre-writing, writing, organizing, editing, rewriting, and publishing. Completed essays may be transferred to a word processing program, HTML editor, or e-mail application. To begin, click Start Writing Now.

In 1956, Benjamin Bloom headed a group of educational psychologists who developed a classification of levels of intellectual behavior important in learning. During the 1990's a new group of cognitive psychologists, lead by Lorin Anderson (a former student of Bloom), updated the taxonomy to reflect relevance to 21st century work.

NC WISEOWL, a program from the NC Department of Public Instruction, is an excellent resource for students, teachers, administrators and parents. Periodical databases and other subscription-only reference materials are available, as well as easy access to other teaching and information resources from the DPI Digital Teaching and Learning Division. Students conducting research, teachers doing research for classes or looking for educational journals, parents helping with homework will all benefit by using this collection of encyclopedia, magazine and reference works. Funded by the North Carolina legislature, this service is free to public school teachers and students. Ask your School Library Media Coordinator for passwords to access this resource at home.
