Online Check In Instructions

January 29, 2021

Dear Parent or Guardian,

As part of remote instruction, your student may take the NC Check-In online remotely from home.

The main purpose of these resources is to provide parents, guardians, teachers, and students with an indication of your student’s current understanding of the content standards and to provide appropriate grade level support. Your student will not receive a grade after completing this resource. To get the most accurate information on how well your student is performing, it is very important that you do not help your student answer the questions (for example; explaining what a word means, explaining how to answer a problem, giving the correct answer). Students must work independently and without assistance to ensure the teacher is able to gauge the student’s true ability.

The information provided in this resource is intended for your student only & cannot be shared with others for any reason.

Individual Student Access Code: You or your student will receive a unique access code to log in. These codes were created specifically for each student and will only give your student access to the specific resource he or she is taking.

Timing: Your student may use as much time as he or she needs to complete the activity.

Environment: It is recommended that your student works in a quiet, well-lit area of the home. Your student should not use any resources that may help him or her answer questions (for example, a dictionary, a multiplication table, or textbooks).

Student Instructions: The instructions below will help you set up your Chromebook:

  1. Open the Chrome “Apps” button on the Chromebook (lower left hand corner) and click on the NCTest button. Now click “NC Test Login”.

  2. Where prompted, enter the Student ID and Access Code provided by your school. (You do not need to enter a Username and Password in the first two boxes.)

  3. On the next screen you will see your name, the name of the activity you are taking (NC Check In), and the name of your school near the top of the screen.

  4. Click the START button when you are ready to start answering the questions. After you click the START button, a pop-up box will appear. You should check to make sure the information in the pop-up box is correct. If the pop-up box contains incorrect information, then you should contact your teacher for help.

  5. Click OK to begin.

If you click the EXIT button, you will see a caution message. To continue, you will need to click the “cancel” button.

When you complete the activity, it is very important that you click the END TEST button TWICE before leaving the computer. If you do not click both of the END TEST buttons, your answers cannot be submitted.

Parents: If your student needs help logging into or submitting the questions after they are finished you may help with submission. If your student has any technical problems or questions, he/she should contact the teacher. Thank you for your help as we work together to provide optimal remote learning resources!

Sincerely,

Erica Blackwell

Principal
